About the position

The Senior Grants Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the management of government and private grants, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and reconciling month-end general ledger accounts. This role serves as a liaison between departments regarding grants and requires a deep understanding of government contract and financial management regulations. The position demands a high degree of independence and judgment in managing grant-related activities.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the main point of contact for information and guidance on grants and contracts.
  • Maintain quality oversight of a portfolio of grants within APA and APAF's programs.
  • Directly supervise one or more Grants Managers and/or grants staff.
  • Ensure compliance with existing agreements and institutional grant-related policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and record monthly calculations for overhead related to all private and federal grants.
  • Prepare indirect cost calculations and apply proper rates to grants.
  • Maintain and distribute temporarily restricted net asset and board designated schedules, ensuring programmatic departments understand available funds.
  • Assist departments by reviewing grant documents and identifying financial inaccuracies.
  • Maintain all government and private award files, including pre and post-award documentation.
  • Review costs incurred and draw down federal funds as appropriate.
  • Bill appropriate grants on a monthly/quarterly basis.
  • Prepare all required federal financial forms and maintain federal financial system databases and reports.
  • Provide financial reports to internal grant managers, including an analysis of spending.
  • Lead yearly and interim financial audits related to grants and net assets schedules.
  • Timely close grant transactions and reconciliations monthly.
  • Manage requirements for CFR Part 200, Uniform Administration Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards.
  • Develop pre-award grant budgets and prepare budgets for the annual APA budget process.
  • Ensure Intacct is fully utilized for fund reporting and grant receivables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting.
  • Eight years of progressively responsible accounting and/or finance experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Government Grant Reporting (CFR Part 200).
  • Knowledge of Intacct Financials is a plus.
  • Strong Excel skills and excellent organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work well with others.
