About the position

The Senior Grants Specialist at The Nature Conservancy (TNC) plays a crucial role in managing public awards and ensuring compliance with financial and legal standards. This position involves overseeing the administration of grants from various government and private entities, providing guidance and support to the Western Grants team, and ensuring that all aspects of publicly funded awards are handled efficiently and accurately. The role is flexible, allowing for remote work or office-based arrangements, and emphasizes collaboration and communication within a diverse team.

Responsibilities

• Administers public awards and ensures compliance with programmatic commitments, TNC policies, financial standards, and legal requirements.
• Participates in complex negotiations related to grants and funding agreements.
• Makes independent decisions based on analysis, experience, and judgment.
• Supervises or mentors other members of the Grants Services Network (GSN).
• Communicates directly with agency contracting officers to ensure agreement terms are met.
• Maintains auditable files and ensures accuracy of invoices and financial reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
• 4 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with public award accounting and financial issues.
• Proficiency in accounting and financial reporting systems, particularly Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of U.S. Federal Uniform Guidance and state/local regulations.
