About the position

The Senior Graphic and Web Designer serves as a Communications Specialist 3 within the Minnesota Department of Human Services. This role focuses on providing visual communication products that advance equity and raise public awareness about essential programs and services. The designer will oversee print publications, websites, and digital assets, collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance communication strategies for diverse populations. The position requires a blend of strategic oversight and hands-on design expertise to ensure compliance with state and federal policies while delivering impactful visual communications.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership and vision in strategic communication planning related to visual design projects and brand management.
• Provides hands-on design and production services.
• Designs, develops, and participates in communication processes that manage projects ensuring compliance with state and federal law, continuous improvement, and timely production.

Requirements

• Three years of professional experience in graphic and web design.
• Skilled expertise in multiple areas of visual design and production, including creative design and graphic arts techniques.
• Experience with HTML and CSS to manipulate existing website designs.
• Familiarity with emerging trends in design and visual communication, including interactivity, AI, and engagement with video and animation.
• Extensive knowledge of graphics and publishing software such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, Premiere, Audition, Animate, and Dreamweaver.
• Thorough understanding of brand building through visual communication.
