About the position

The Senior Graphic Designer at Moore College of Art & Design is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in providing creative digital and print solutions across various departments, including Admissions, Advancement, Student and Academic Affairs, and the Gallery. This position is responsible for upholding and promoting the College's brand standards while delivering high-quality design work. The designer will create and execute original design concepts for websites, print materials, and social media channels, as well as update and edit existing designs. The role requires managing design workflows to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget, utilizing project management tools such as Wrike, and maintaining proactive communication with vendors and stakeholders. In addition to design responsibilities, the Senior Graphic Designer will oversee the management of digital assets, ensuring an organized catalog of images and resources. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously are essential for success in this role. The designer will also be responsible for mentoring graphic design student workers, providing guidance and feedback on their work, and ensuring adherence to the College's brand guidelines. Staying informed about the latest design trends and technologies is also a key aspect of this position, as it allows the designer to bring fresh ideas and innovative solutions to the College's marketing and communications efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Design creative concepts and manage projects through the design process from development editing, vendor selection, production and completion of College print and digital projects.
  • Assist with proofing process and proof work for print and design specifications and consistencies. Remain up-to-date on and follow College Brand Guidelines and Editorial Standards.
  • Keep track of production timelines and report to Vice President of Marketing & Communications on status of deliverables.
  • Communicate with in-house clients to establish and maintain goals, and delivery timeframes.
  • Create assets for social media, advertising and other print and/or digital campaigns.
  • Supervise graphic design student workers on projects providing feedback and mentorship on their work.
  • Stay up-to-date with latest technology and industry trends.
  • Maintain organized file system and file backups on Moore shared drives.
  • Attend meetings with colleagues throughout the College to support their strategic design requests.
  • Other department duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in graphic design
  • Minimum 5-7 years of related graphic design and website experience.
  • Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Illustrator, Figma, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, AfterEffects and industry-standard design apps and HTML experience.
  • Attention to detail, strong organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing deadlines.
  • Experience reviewing and editing proofs.
  • Understanding of social media and related needs/assets for Meta, Twitter, Pinterest and LinkedIn.
  • Ability to think creatively and collaborate with the Marketing/Communications team working with personnel throughout the College.
  • Ensure a smooth process among printers, agency partners, internal College stakeholders and marketing/communications.
  • Oversee brand design guidelines for the College and partner with vendors, and colleagues to follow the brand guidelines.
