About the position

The Senior Engineering Specialist at Aerospace Corporation serves as a senior technical authority and project leader, focusing on system architecture studies and integration across various engineering disciplines. This role involves collaborating with customers and contractors to identify needs and requirements, leading cross-functional teams, and mentoring junior staff. The position requires a strong background in the space, intelligence, and defense domains, with a commitment to delivering innovative solutions in a diverse and inclusive workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Aerospace program office, customer, and contractor personnel as a technical subject matter expert and project leader.
  • Elicit and identify needs, requirements, and constraints for studies.
  • Build cross-disciplinary teams and mentor junior staff.
  • Scope, plan, and execute studies, effectively communicating task status, methods, results, and recommendations.
  • Lead and participate in system architecture studies of ground system concepts, supporting problem framing and trade space assessment.
  • Define system capabilities and requirements for ground, space, and intersegment system architectures.
  • Collaborate with other Aerospace personnel to marshal technical expertise across multiple disciplines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent technical experience.
  • 12 or more years of substantive experience in the space, intelligence, and/or defense domains.
  • Experience with project planning and team leadership.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with customers and contractors.
  • Experience developing and presenting strategic decision-making and technical architecture design artifacts.
  • Exceptional time-management skills to manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Current and active TS/SCI security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in engineering, math, science, or related technical discipline.
  • Demonstrated success in organizing and leading cross-functional teams.
  • More than 5 years of relevant work in system or enterprise architecting, systems engineering, or model-based systems engineering.
