About the position
The position at Mesker Park Zoo involves various duties related to guest services and operations. The role includes managing admissions through a computerized point-of-sale system, handling revenue for ticketing and membership sales, collecting data, processing transactions, and answering phones. Additionally, the position requires staffing the gift shop, which includes sales, stocking, straightening, cleaning, and maintaining the overall appearance of the shop. Staff members will also be responsible for attractions and guest experiences, which include overseeing paddleboat rentals, carousel rides, giraffe feedings, budgie aviary feedings, penguin feedings, contact zoo interactions, and tram tours. The role also involves serving as a birthday host, which includes setting up and tearing down for birthday parties, conducting tours, and facilitating animal encounters. Furthermore, the position requires assisting with facility rentals and special events, as well as performing janitorial duties to ensure the park maintains a welcoming appearance, free of trash and litter.
Responsibilities
- Operates computerized point-of-sale for admissions

Requirements
- Good communication skills
- Friendly demeanor and neat appearance
- Ability to deal directly with the public in a positive manner
- Ability to work outside in heat and adverse weather conditions
- Ability to lift 40 pounds
- Computer and retail experience is a plus
- Valid driver's license required
- 6 months experience in a zoo Guest Services department or comparable guest services atmosphere
- Flexible work schedule and willingness to work year-round
