About the position

The Senior Hardware Design Engineer will join the Security team at Western Digital, focusing on developing high-quality security hardware. This role involves analyzing hardware threat surfaces, defining mitigation plans, and participating in the development of hardware security policies for embedded devices related to data storage. The engineer will also evaluate emerging security hardware technologies and contribute to the architecture and design of secure platforms.

Responsibilities

• Analyze hardware threat surfaces and vectors for the Security Enclave and SOCs.
• Define and implement mitigation plans for identified threats.
• Participate in Hardware Security Policy definition for embedded devices related to data storage.
• Evaluate emerging security hardware technologies and include them in the roadmap.
• Architect, design, and prototype product-agnostic platforms with Secure Enclave capabilities.
• Implement security functionalities such as Cryptographic Algorithms and Access Control Management.
• Participate in code, verification plan, and validation plan reviews of RTL, ROM, and Firmware.
• Define a framework for hardware development to detect and prevent potential security issues.
• Architect and design hardware vulnerability test beds for side-channel attacks.
• Participate in cross-functional hardware architecture and design meetings.
• Research secure and performant implementations of Cryptographic Algorithms using advanced modeling frameworks.
• Mentor engineers in Secure Enclave RTL development, verification, and integration.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering (CE), Electrical Engineering (EE), or related technical field.
• 3-5 years of experience in a related technical field.
• Extensive experience in RTL designing, pre-silicon and post-silicon bring-up and debugging.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
