About the position

The Senior Hardware Design Engineer will lead the research and development of new products and improvements to existing products, focusing on Systems solutions for DOD customers. This role involves direct customer interaction to identify needs and develop product solutions, while managing projects with both on-site and remote teams from the New York City headquarters.

Responsibilities

  • Managing, deriving, and capturing Product/Program requirements including mechanical and electrical interface design specifications, component requirements, and functional block diagrams.
  • Supporting software and hardware testing.
  • Supporting and facilitating engineering projects including new product/solution development, product changes, and customer integration.
  • Supporting the change management process to ensure all required actions have been completed and that communication to key stakeholders is maintained.
  • Ensuring quality documentation is updated/created as required, including technical manuals.
  • Providing support and delivering solutions for rapid development projects.
  • Modifying and updating requirements documents.
  • Coordinating preparation of design drawings including updates.
  • Supporting and facilitating project scheduling.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
  • At least 7 years working as a Hardware Design Engineer demonstrating powerful design thinking in both interaction and experience design.
  • At least 3 years of experience in RF engineering.
  • Defense Project Management Experience interfacing directly with customers for networking architecture solutions and product integration solutions.
  • Product Development experience.
  • Experience with complex systems development, evaluation and requirements capture.
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical interface requirements.
  • Experience in risk analysis and progress reporting.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Must have a United States security clearance or the ability to obtain a United States security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • 10+ years of systems engineering and networking experience.
  • Experience with Embedded Linux.
  • Knowledge of audio/video encoder/decoders and interfaces.
  • Experience in electromagnetic capability (EMC) testing and design.
  • Knowledge of military certification/qualification testing.
