About the position

The Senior Engineer, Electrical at Badger Meter plays a crucial role in supporting the company's growth by focusing on hardware-specific aspects of electrical and electronic product development. This position involves product performance testing, new product development, and maintaining existing products in the production environment. The role offers autonomy and creativity, allowing the engineer to work closely with engineering leaders and contribute significantly to multi-disciplinary project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Act as project technical lead and complete the design of hardware PCB/component circuit portions of projects.
  • Conduct product/prototype design verification tests to ensure compliance with applicable standards and product specifications.
  • Finalize production implementations, including test methodology and the creation of production validation fixtures and procedures.
  • Complete release documentation for final hardware portions of products.
  • Create product work instructions/process documents and initiate engineering change requests.
  • Provide advanced product hardware support for sustaining engineering activities to other departments.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary project teams, defining project schedules, budgets, and risks.
  • Mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of related experience in electrical/electronic engineering.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
  • Thorough understanding of end-to-end product-based electronics development, focusing on PCB hardware design and integration.
  • Knowledge of both analog and digital circuit design.
  • Experience with basic sensing technology and its interfacing (magnetic, optics, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of working with embedded microcontrollers or microprocessors.
  • Thorough knowledge of Altium schematic capture and PCB layout software.
  • Extensive experience with test instruments such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and data acquisition systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience debugging and prototyping embedded systems.
  • Demonstrated expertise in at least one major product technology area or skill discipline.
  • Advanced knowledge of Badger Meter Engineering tools and processes.
  • Experience working with other company departments on technical support of products.
