About the position

The Common Hardware Group (CHG) at Cisco is seeking an experienced FPGA designer to work on next-generation routers that power AI buildout. This role involves translating networking system requirements into functional blocks for FPGA implementation, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the successful validation and release of products to manufacturing. The position also includes mentoring junior engineers and partnering with software teams to ensure seamless hardware-software integration.

Responsibilities

  • Translate networking system requirements into functional blocks for FPGA implementation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address development requirements.
  • Participate in the validation of the system and release to manufacturing.
  • Partner with the Software team to ensure proper operation of the Software/Hardware system.
  • Work with architects on product design and definition.
  • Mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant degree.
  • 7+ years of related experience in FPGA development from specification to production.
  • Expertise in Verilog/System Verilog RTL coding.
  • Experience with industry-leading FPGA devices and tools.
  • Ability to resolve system-level issues and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant degree and 4+ years of related experience.
  • PhD in Electrical Engineering or relevant degree and 1+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with UVM and/or VMM Verification methodology.
  • Experience with advanced microprocessor-based design.
  • Experience with networking card development from definition to production.
  • Low-level networking card debug experience.
  • Experience with CPU-based peripherals architecture.
