About the position

The Senior Hardware Engineer Program Manager will lead cross-functional teams in the development and launch of new cloud hardware products for Microsoft. This role is crucial in ensuring that projects meet their milestones and deliver high-quality solutions that align with Microsoft's mission of empowering organizations globally. The position requires a blend of technical leadership, project management, and effective communication to navigate the complexities of hardware development in a cloud infrastructure context.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a virtual team of functional leads from various engineering and operational disciplines to document a clear Plan-of-Record (POR) for new product development.
  • Drive the development, planning, and execution of a holistic cross-functional product development and launch strategy.
  • Provide technical leadership and identify technical risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with internal and external technology partners to create a cohesive development plan.
  • Understand product technical requirements, milestones, deliverables, and interdependencies to establish an effective project infrastructure.
  • Leverage engineering skills to solve problems and achieve objectives through cross-functional teamwork.
  • Communicate and escalate risks and dependencies, ensuring timely decision-making.
  • Accountable for delivering best-in-class architecture solutions and managing risk in new product introductions.
  • Regularly interact with senior management to highlight risks and provide recommendations for product-level decisions.
  • Operate effectively in ambiguous situations, applying and designing processes where necessary.
  • Ensure cross-functional alignment and readiness for new Data Center infrastructure development, launch, and deployments.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in technical program management, particularly in hardware development.
  • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and hardware engineering principles.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with senior management and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage risks and dependencies effectively in a complex project environment.
  • Experience with program management tools and methodologies.
