About the position

BAE Systems is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer / Senior Engineer Technologist to work on advanced electronics projects, focusing on testing and troubleshooting complex electronic systems in the Digital and RF Domain. The role involves conducting tests, developing technical documentation, and mentoring lower-level technicians while ensuring high-quality engineering outcomes. The position requires a commitment to working weekends and offers a flexible work environment with competitive benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct tests and/or experiments on electronic systems and subsystems by following published test procedures and requirements.
  • Develop and recommend inputs to technical documentation including test procedures, work instructions, and engineering drawing packages.
  • Troubleshoot and test a wide variety of highly complex assemblies and systems using laboratory test instruments.
  • Analyze results and recommend design revisions or modifications to improve performance.
  • Implement recommendations/design changes in collaboration with Design Engineers and with Program approval.
  • Compile, review, analyze, and present complex engineering data to achieve engineering objectives.
  • Oversee day-to-day technician activities, delegating tasks to ensure priority tasks are covered.
  • Provide mentorship to lower-level technicians and engineers.
  • Support engineering investigations to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Review and provide technical feedback to engineering change requests and proposals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma plus 8 years of related experience.
  • Familiarity with RF, Microwave, Digital, and Analog modules.
  • Experience working in production and engineering environments.
  • Ability to work independently with technical hands-on capability.
  • Experience supporting testing and troubleshooting of systems, modules, and/or sub-assemblies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree / Associates Degree in Engineering Technology or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience developing and executing test procedures for system verification.
  • Experience with microwave testing using Vector Network Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Synthesizers, Power Meters, etc.
  • Working knowledge of test stand software.
  • Experience transitioning new designs from development to production.
