About the position

The Senior Hardware Engineer will be instrumental in developing advanced hardware solutions for radio payloads intended for satellite integration. This role involves overseeing projects from concept through production, ensuring that all hardware meets stringent performance, quality, and reliability standards while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, design, and development of electronic hardware systems, including PCBs, embedded systems, RF transmitters, receivers, and analog/digital circuits.
  • Manage and guide hardware engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and meet design specifications.
  • Oversee the development of prototypes, perform hands-on testing and validation of designs, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Work closely with software, mechanical, and firmware engineering teams to integrate hardware with other system components.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with hardware designs, including failures, inefficiencies, or non-compliance with specifications.
  • Prepare detailed design documentation, specifications, and test plans for hardware components and systems.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and manufacturing teams to ensure quality control and on-time delivery of components.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Experience with PCB schematic and layout tools (Altium experience highly preferred).
  • Experience in PCB design and layout of high-frequency RF components such as transmission lines, co-planar waveguides, Wireless SoCs, matching networks, LNAs, mixers, power amplifiers, etc.
  • Strong understanding of RF design principles, including impedance matching, signal integrity, power amplifiers, mixers, filters, and oscillators.
  • Experience in the design and layout of embedded board-level designs, such as microcontrollers, SoCs, power management, sensors, and I/O devices.
  • Experience in digital or mixed-signal design principles, including designs using processors, FPGAs, operational amplifiers, and filters.
  • Hands-on experience in bring-up, tuning, debugging, and testing (especially RF systems) using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, VNAs, Spectrum Analyzer, and Signal Generators.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly cross-functional role.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the design of RF systems for space or aerospace applications.
