About the position

ASRC Federal System Solutions, LLC. (AFSS) is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer to join our team in Colorado Springs, CO. This role is critical in supporting the Ground Based Radar Maintenance and Sustainment Service (GMASS) program. The Senior Hardware Engineer will be responsible for planning, developing, delivering, and deploying configuration managed updates to GMASS-covered systems capabilities. The goal is to ensure that these updates have no negative impact on mission performance and GMASS requirements while maximizing operational availability and cyber security. In this position, the engineer will perform the design and implementation of hardware systems that require the integration of diverse and complex components. This includes defining operational requirements, integrating with other systems or components, researching and modeling the hardware systems architecture and configuration, and investigating alternatives. The engineer will also conduct cost analysis and estimation, as well as decision analysis to support the hardware solutions. The role requires providing specific, detailed information for the selection and implementation of hardware solutions. This encompasses present and future capacity requirements, facility requirements (including floor layout, power cooling, network connectivity), data storage, backup, monitoring, operations systems, directory services, identity management, access management, and automation. The Senior Hardware Engineer will play a vital role in ensuring that the systems are robust, efficient, and meet the operational needs of the GMASS program.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, deliver, and deploy configuration managed updates to GMASS-covered systems capabilities.
  • Ensure no negative impact to mission performance and GMASS requirements while maximizing operational availability and cyber security.
  • Design and implement hardware systems that integrate diverse and complex components.
  • Define operational requirements including integration with other systems or components.
  • Research and model the hardware systems architecture and configuration.
  • Investigate alternatives and conduct cost analysis and estimation.
  • Provide detailed information for selection and implementation of hardware solutions, including capacity and facility requirements.

Requirements

  • Technical experience and knowledge of developing, implementing, and supporting hardware mission systems.
  • Bachelor's degree with five (5) years or more experience; Master's degree with three (3) years or more experience; PhD with 0 years related experience.
  • Active Secret clearance required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience and knowledge of the Upgraded Early Warning Radar (UEWR) System.
  • Familiarity with the Perimeter Acquisition Radar Attack Characterization Systems (PARCS) and their architectures.
