About the position

The Senior Hardware/Integrated Systems Engineer will lead and contribute to an engineering team supporting a U.S. Army program. This role involves overseeing the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process, including analysis, design, development, testing, and maintenance of hardware systems. The engineer will focus on space payload structural, thermal, and mechanical analysis, managing hardware baselines and Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) profiles throughout the SDLC.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the hardware engineering team and provide hardware engineering Subject Matter Expertise (SME).
  • Develop design criteria, collaborate on requirements, and drive space payload optimization.
  • Perform structural analysis to identify bus non-compliance and optimize performance.
  • Conduct component interface analysis to ensure alignment and prevent reliability issues.
  • Perform environmental and performance testing on hardware to validate compliance with design criteria.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplined engineers on complex physics problems.
  • Establish and manage the space payload hardware baseline and supply chain throughout the SDLC.
  • Lead the design, development, and evaluation of electronic hardware components and systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or relevant technical discipline.
  • Proven ability to lead a hardware engineering team for space applications.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing for test plans and reports.
  • Experience supporting systems engineering technical reviews (DCR, SFR, PDR, CDR, FDR, TRR, PRR).
  • Experience with hardware, software, and documentation configuration management.
  • Self-starter with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • Minimum 12 years' experience in hardware/mechanical engineering activities across the SDLC.
  • Experience with mechanical design, packaging, prototyping, integration, testing, and manufacturing.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies, Digital Engineering (DE), and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Experience with detailed design activities and simulations necessary for the SDLC process.
  • Experience with Government or commercial spaceflight projects.
  • Experience with aerospace system lifecycle design for launch and mission operations.
  • Experience with mechanical drawing and documentation industry standards.
  • Experience with space systems material handling requirements.
  • Experience with structures, thermal, and vacuum design and testing.
  • Experience with electronic instrumentation and testbeds.
  • Experience with 2D/3D modeling software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, Rhino).
  • Experience with space qualification requirements and processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or relevant technical discipline.
  • 15+ years' experience in mechanical engineering activities across the SDLC.
  • Experience developing and maintaining program schedules in Microsoft Project.
  • Certified Lean Six Sigma Belt (ICGB) or higher.
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
  • Active SECRET clearance.
