We are seeking a Senior Hardware Quality Engineer with hands-on hardware quality experience to become a key part of Operations Quality - Cabinet Integration Center Microwave Team. Here at Raytheon, our Operations Quality Team assures product and process quality with an emphasis on Product Compliance, Customer Satisfaction and Continuous Improvement. In this role, you will baseline factory metrics such as Scrap, Rework, and First Pass Yield (FPY), identify top drivers, and discover opportunities for improvement. You will engage and lead Defect Prevention Teams (DPTs) to align top priorities for the factory with the objective of reducing defects and the Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ). Your hands-on engagement with the factory team will involve performing process walks, operator observations, product examinations, and leading manufacturing team discussions focused on process improvements and defect reduction. Additionally, you will lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) initiatives, including PFMEA, control plans, and Statistical Process Control (SPC), as well as other Continuous Improvement efforts. You will work closely with the Supplier Quality Management Team to resolve quality issues and improve delivered quality levels to the factory. Conducting First Article Inspections will also be part of your responsibilities, ensuring that all key product characteristics are compliant with the Technical Data Package (TDP).

Responsibilities

  • Perform process walks, operator observations, product examinations, and lead manufacturing team discussions focused on process improvements and defect reduction
  • Lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) initiatives (PFMEA, control Plans, SPC, etc.) and other Continuous Improvements efforts
  • Work with the Supplier Quality Management Team to resolve quality issues and improve delivered quality levels to the factory
  • Conduct First Article Inspections as required ensuring all key product characteristics are compliant to the Technical Data Package (TDP)

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or other technical field of study, and a minimum of five (5) years related Quality Engineering experience or MS degree (STEM) and 3 years of experience
  • Experience in analyzing assembly, test and inspection process data and utilizing it to drive cross functional process improvement
  • Experience identifying root cause and initiating/implementing effective corrective actions
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of key process characteristics and ability to implement effective process control techniques
  • Experience with industry technical standards, interpreting mechanical drawings, work instructions, Parts Lists (PLs), and Bill of Materials (BOMs) as well as a strong familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality management systems
  • Proficient in the use of pareto analysis, cause/effect diagrams, process mapping. Six Sigma, ASQ Certifications
  • Able to facilitate cross-functional teams in systematic improvement activities (e.g. 6-sigma, lean manufacturing)
  • Existing US DoD Secret (or higher) clearance
