About the position

The Senior Hardware Standards Engineer will be a key member of the team responsible for establishing global hardware design, standards, and architecture for ServiceNow's datacenters. This role involves developing and maintaining hardware standards, collaborating with various engineering teams, and ensuring the continuity of supply for hardware solutions. The engineer will also work directly with hardware manufacturers to evaluate new technologies and contribute to quality and process improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop server, storage, and full-rack hardware standards for deployments to ServiceNow datacenters worldwide.
  • Build and maintain server, storage, cloud service provider, and rack SKU documentation.
  • Support relationships with reseller/integrators, suppliers, and cloud service providers (AWS, Azure, etc.).
  • Identify and validate alternates for incumbent hardware solutions to ensure continuity of supply.
  • Evaluate new technologies and products for use in global infrastructure by working directly with hardware manufacturers.
  • Design, build, and maintain operational configurations for consistent deployments over time.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams to plan hardware rollouts and address tactical issues.
  • Assist team members with troubleshooting and problem remediation as necessary.
  • Act as a key contributor for quality and process improvement.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of datacenter technician and/or technical program manager experience required.
  • Experience in enterprise server solutions, enterprise storage solutions, rack-level power design/management, and complex network cabling design.
  • Intermediate understanding of AC/DC power calculations.
  • Critical attention to detail is a must.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive complex problems to resolution.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Information Systems (CIS), Management Information Systems (MIS), or Computer Science (CS) or related field.
  • Excellent communication and customer skills, problem solving, conflict management, listening, time management and interpersonal skills required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience using the ServiceNow platform preferred but not required.
  • Previous supervisor or leadership skills desired.
