About the position

Draper is seeking a senior hardware structural and thermal structural analysis engineer to lead the design and development of innovative solutions for ruggedized miniature electro-mechanical systems and robotics in harsh environments. This role is critical for advancing technologies that support national interests, requiring a collaborative approach to problem-solving and a strong foundation in engineering principles.

Responsibilities

  • Execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts to validate the performance, functionality, and durability of hardware products.
  • Conduct thorough testing and validation of hardware products to ensure compliance with specifications, requirements, and quality standards.
  • Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting of hardware defects and implement preventive measures for malfunctions.
  • Contribute to requirements development, propose ways forward, and adapt to changes in requirements.
  • Perform analytical modeling and finite element analysis of complex electro-mechanical systems.
  • Provide insight and suggest design modifications based on analysis outcomes.
  • Identify program/system-level technical risks and develop and execute mitigation strategies.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers and provide constructive feedback.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant field (Master's Degree preferred).
  • 5-7 years of Engineering experience with Bachelor's Degree or 3-5 years with Master's Degree.
  • Ability to obtain a US secret clearance, requiring proof of US citizenship.
