About the position

The Senior Hardware System Design Engineer at Broadcom's Core Switching Group (CSG) is responsible for leading the development of complex PCB system designs, focusing on high-speed and high-density layouts. This role encompasses the entire hardware development cycle, from concept to NPI production, with an emphasis on system design, schematics, PCB layout, and customer support. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and functionality of hardware systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of complex PCB system designs, from specification to compliance testing, ensuring high performance and reliability.
  • Drive the implementation of high-speed SERDES channels (50/100G and above) and high-density BGA pin layouts, utilizing low-loss PCB materials.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of high-power, low-noise analog power systems, DDR interfaces, and other critical components.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including ASIC, SI, PI, DVT, Sysops, Software, AE, and Mechanical/Thermal, to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
  • Provide technical leadership and support to ODMs, OEMs, and PCB/PCA suppliers, both domestically and overseas.
  • Utilize advanced tools and techniques for signal integrity and power integrity analysis, ensuring robust performance in challenging environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 12+ years of proven experience as a Hardware Systems Design Engineer, with a focus on system design and development.
  • Expertise in PCB design tools such as DxDesigner/OrCad and Cadence Allegro, with hands-on experience in schematic capture and layout.
  • Strong understanding of power integrity concepts, signal integrity principles, and high-speed board design methodologies.
  • Proficiency in system bring-up, characterization, and debugging of complex embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with interfaces such as PCIe, DDR, USB, SPI, and I2C, and their integration into system-level designs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
