About the position

The position supports the design, deployment, and operations of a large-scale global Oracle cloud computing environment, specifically focusing on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The role is primarily centered around the development and deployment of physical rack layouts, cabling design, and the testing and qualification of physical components deployed by Network Engineering. The ideal candidate will have a diverse background in various areas of network hardware engineering, including cabling, low-level device performance, and thermal management. Given that OCI is a cloud-based network with a global footprint, the support will encompass hundreds of thousands of network devices that facilitate millions of servers, interconnected through a combination of dedicated backbone infrastructure and the Internet. The role requires collaboration across teams within the same organization and outside of it, taking on technical responsibility for complex projects, which includes defining project requirements, specifications, and documentation. The engineer will work closely with supporting service teams to ensure that solutions are adequately supported by monitoring and automation systems. Additionally, the position serves as a point of contact for systematically resolving complex network design issues, necessitating a strong understanding of current and future cabling and optical standards, cable plant design, rack structural calculations, and best practices for rack integration. The engineer will also collaborate with vendor engineering and account managers to address current business or operational issues and participate in the adoption of new vendor hardware, maintaining active communication with product teams and coordinating with networking leadership and PMO to assess gaps, solutions, and needs.
