About the position

The Senior Higher Education Interior Designer at STV, Inc. is responsible for leading design projects that cater to the unique needs of higher education institutions. This role involves defining project elements, coordinating with various disciplines, and ensuring quality control throughout the design and construction phases. The designer will also provide mentorship to junior staff and may supervise direct reports, contributing to the overall success of the firm's projects in Southern Connecticut.

Responsibilities

  • Define design or project elements and processes to meet client needs.
  • Participate in and coordinate estimates and proposal/bid preparations.
  • Plan and develop design projects with unique complexities that impact major company programs.
  • Participate in conceptual design and provide support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with project management, architects, and other designers on technical solutions.
  • Review junior staff's work for technical accuracy and provide guidance.
  • Perform quality control reviews and ensure key milestones are achieved.
  • Conduct field reviews, inspections, and observations of ongoing construction projects.
  • Supervise direct reports, including hiring and performance management.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of five years related experience in architectural planning and design.
  • Minimum of two years practical CADD experience.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in space planning, architecture, facilities management, or related fields.
  • High degree of competency in CAD and graphics software packages.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, analytical skills, and creative vision.
