About The Position

The Senior HPC Linux Administrator at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City plays a crucial role in supporting high-performance computing (HPC) environments and Linux-based systems. Requirements

  • At least 6 years of relevant and progressive information technology experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM or a closely related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience supporting and administering a High Performance Compute (HPC) cluster and its components: Red Hat Linux, SLURM, IBM Spectrum Scale (GPFS), Spack, Salt.
  • Experience with GPFS Permissions / NFSv4 ACLs.
  • Experience with OpenLDAP administration.
  • Experience with Kubernetes administration.
  • Experience with Gitlab administration.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to continuously improve processes and contribute to innovation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop partnerships and promote a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, install, secure, and support HPC and Linux virtual desktop platforms and their users.
  • Respond to user requests and support issues via a ticketing tool.
  • Monitor and manage system health and capacity.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills to define complex problems and formulate solutions.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex issues for Advanced and Expert levels.
  • Collaborate on yearly budgeting processes related to hardware refreshes and new system purchases.
  • Manage physical assets within the Kansas City data center.
  • Review and analyze business and technical requirements to implement technical solutions.
  • Provide occasional after-hours and on-call support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
