About the position

The Senior HR Generalist - Labor Relations Specialist will be a key member of the Human Resources department at BE&K Building Group, located in Morrisville, NC. This role is designed to support HR operations and initiatives, acting as a trusted advisor to both employees and management. The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on labor relations and will be responsible for maintaining a harmonious work environment while ensuring compliance with HR laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive HR support to employees and management, acting as a point of contact for all HR-related inquiries.
  • Demonstrate compliance with all applicable local, State and Federal Laws including EEO, FMLA, HIPAA, ADA, and the Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for labor relations, managing the grievance process and assisting with labor union contract negotiations.
  • Conduct effective investigations into employee complaints, conflicts, and disciplinary issues, ensuring fair outcomes.
  • Coach and advise employees and managers regarding employee relations policies and contractual labor agreements interpretation.
  • Assist with the ADA interactive process and collaborate with Medical and HR staff regarding leave management.
  • Oversee Talent Acquisition and manage staffing needs as well as College Recruiting.
  • Assist with the performance management process, including goal setting and performance appraisals.
  • Assist with annual benefits enrollment and other HR programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in Human Resources, focusing on labor relations and workforce planning.
  • Prior experience in the construction industry is ideal.
  • HR certification preferred (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR or SHRM-SCP, SPHR).
  • Strong knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and other HR-related software.
  • Experience in conducting investigations and resolving employee relations issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • High proficiency in MS Office Suite.
