About the position

As a Senior HR Generalist at CHR Hansen Inc., you will play a pivotal role in supporting the human resources functions at our Wausau, WI and Saskatoon, SK facilities. This position operates under general supervision and serves as the primary point of contact for HR matters, providing essential support to site employees and managers. You will be responsible for addressing HR needs, requests, and projects, while also directing specialized inquiries to other HR representatives based on their expertise. Your contributions will be vital in ensuring that HR strategies and initiatives align with the goals and objectives of the sites. In this role, you will act as a key member of the leadership teams at the sites, partnering with hiring managers during the talent acquisition process. This includes participating in interviews and selection decisions to ensure the best candidates are chosen. You will also provide guidance to client groups on effective onboarding and inboarding processes for new and transferring employees, conducting new employee orientations, and managing offboarding processes, including coordinating exit interviews and communicating trends to management. Additionally, you will offer day-to-day performance management guidance to managers, assisting with coaching, counseling, career development, and disciplinary actions. You will provide insights on formal performance management processes and tools, recommend employee and team development activities, and facilitate team development sessions in collaboration with the Learning and Leadership teams. Your role will be instrumental in fostering a positive work environment and supporting the overall development of the workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for HR matters at the Wausau, WI and Saskatoon, SK facilities.
  • Support site employees and managers with HR needs, requests, and projects.
  • Direct specialized HR inquiries to appropriate HR representatives based on expertise.
  • Act as a key member of the site leadership teams to align HR strategies with site goals.
  • Partner with hiring managers during the talent acquisition process, participating in interviews and selection decisions.

Requirements

  • Experience in human resources management or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of HR practices and employment law.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with leadership teams and employees at all levels.
  • Proven experience in talent acquisition and onboarding processes.
  • Knowledge of performance management processes and tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing or biosolutions environment.
  • Familiarity with HR software and systems.
  • Certification in HR (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP).
