About the position

The position involves performing advanced statistical analysis to support Human Resources and data-driven decision-making at Washington University in St. Louis (WUSTL). The role focuses on reporting, trending, and analysis projects using HR data from both current and legacy systems, translating analysis results into actionable information, and creating data structures for effective data management.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in WUSTL Human Resources (HR) data.
  • Develop and streamline data models for efficient analysis and reporting.
  • Analyze data and create reports for management to review HR information against strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare informational and analytical reports that illustrate present conditions, identify trends, and recommend opportunities for improvement.
  • Identify and collect data from various sources to examine business issues and propose options/solutions for HR and other business functions across the university.
  • Extract and format datasets for analysis, utilizing a variety of statistical techniques to create and test model results.
  • Determine best methods of presenting data relating to HR and other business issues.
  • Develop metrics within HR and other business venues to support business planning.
  • Provide input on suggested business actions based on analytical results.
  • Conduct cost/benefit analysis for various business problems as requested.
  • Maintain systems and tools for managing trend-line data.
  • Build regression models and other statistical models using standard statistical tools as appropriate.
  • Assist management in interpreting and implementing changes in laws and regulations that impact higher education and academic medicine.
  • Assist management in responses to government audits and requests for information.
  • Prepare reports and analyses related to university compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations as they relate to human resources.
  • Partner with faculty members and university senior administration on complex analyses to support data-driven decision-making.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in statistics, political science, psychology, economics, business administration, human resources, or a related field; a doctoral degree may substitute for required experience.
  • 2 years of experience using statistical techniques and data analysis tools such as Stata, R, SAS, and/or SPSS.
  • Intermediate to advanced programming skills in one or more statistical packages.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, Microsoft PowerPoint, R Statistics, SPSS Data Analysis, and Stata.
