About the position

The Senior Human Resources Generalist plays a crucial role in administering HR policies and programs while balancing employee advocacy with business needs. This position focuses on promoting equity and positive employee relations, ensuring compliance with employment laws, and providing comprehensive HR support to a designated client group. The role involves recruitment, retention, performance management, and coaching, as well as building relationships with business leaders to enhance organizational effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to management and employees on human resources issues and employment law.
  • Develop new programs and initiatives to meet management needs.
  • Anticipate and plan for long-term human resource needs in partnership with business management.
  • Assist in formulating objectives for personnel policies and manpower goals.
  • Administer company policies fairly and consistently throughout the area of responsibility.
  • Communicate and execute necessary changes to policies and procedures effectively.
  • Perform advanced employee relations functions including support and counseling regarding conflicts and performance issues.
  • Conduct sensitive employee-related investigations.
  • Handle workers' compensation and safety regulations processes.
  • Coordinate the administration of Leave of Absence programs and processes.
  • Conduct open enrollment and other benefits-related programs as needed.
  • Conduct employee and supervisor training on benefits, policies, and prevention of harassment.
  • Ensure timely and accurate entries to the HRIS database and payroll for designated client group.
  • Perform audit and compliance functions as requested.
  • Maintain employee records in compliance with state and federal requirements.
  • Assist in managing and executing bonus plans and merit processes.
  • Assist in the annual budget planning process as needed.
  • May recruit and staff from internal and external sources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of Human Resources Generalist experience.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws and procedures.
  • Demonstrated PC skills and proficiency in MS Office.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize effectively.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and business acumen.

Nice-to-haves

  • Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record preferred.
  • Certifications for Human Resource Professionals (PHR, SPHR) preferred.
