About the position

The Senior Human Resource Generalist will play a crucial role in overseeing the daily HR operations at the Joplin plant under the guidance of the Human Resources Manager. This position is essential for ensuring that the HR needs of the plant are met effectively and efficiently. The generalist will be responsible for a variety of functions including the administration of employee benefits, oversight of hourly payroll, employee relations, and talent acquisition. The ideal candidate will be adaptable and capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization, demonstrating sensitivity to corporate needs, employee needs, and business requirements. Key responsibilities include maintaining and communicating human resource policies and procedures, as well as administering these policies as outlined in the employee handbook for all hourly employees. The Senior HR Generalist will partner with the Human Resources Manager to develop talent acquisition strategies and manage the hourly recruiting process. Additionally, the role involves managing the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Short-Term Disability (STD) processes, educating employees and managers on these leave processes, and coordinating with UNUM to track FMLA leave. The generalist will also collaborate with management to provide coaching on corrective actions, monitor employee attendance, and ensure proper documentation is issued in accordance with the attendance policy. Other responsibilities include assisting the HR Coordinator with payroll by reviewing unauthorized timecards, maintaining employee personnel files, coordinating employee recognition programs, and managing the onboarding process for new hires. The Senior HR Generalist will also oversee the temporary agency process, ensuring that labor requirements are communicated effectively and that temporary workers receive the necessary training.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and communicate human resource policies and procedures for hourly employees.
  • Partner with the Human Resources Manager to build talent acquisition strategies and manage the hourly recruiting process.
  • Manage the FMLA and STD processes with UNUM, educating employees and managers on the leave process.
  • Collaborate with management to provide coaching on corrective actions.
  • Monitor employee attendance and ensure proper documentation is issued according to the attendance policy.
  • Assist the HR Coordinator and Payroll by reviewing unauthorized timecards and reporting PTO, LOA, and FMLA use.
  • Maintain employee personnel files according to company policies.
  • Coordinate employee recognition programs, service awards, and monthly appreciation events.
  • Responsible for new hire onboarding, including documentation and orientation schedules.
  • Manage the temporary agency process, including communication of labor requirements and training.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Business Management, Human Resource Management or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of progressive HR experience preferred.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of leave management policies such as FMLA, STD, LTD, and Workers Compensation.
  • Experience with UltiPro, Kronos or other HRIS systems highly desired.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of employee records and information.
