Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, the Senior Human Resource Generalist will be responsible for overseeing the daily HR needs of the Joplin plant. This role is essential in ensuring that the HR functions align with the overall business operations and support the workforce effectively. The Senior HR Generalist will administer benefits, oversee hourly payroll, manage employee relations, and lead talent acquisition efforts. This position requires an adaptable individual who can relate to employees at all levels within the organization, demonstrating sensitivity to corporate needs, employee needs, and business requirements. The Senior HR Generalist will maintain and communicate human resource policies and procedures, ensuring that they are administered as outlined in the employee handbook for all hourly employees at the Joplin plant. This includes partnering with the Human Resources Manager to build talent acquisition strategies and manage the hourly recruiting process. The role also involves managing the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Short-Term Disability (STD) processes, educating employees and managers on the leave process, and coordinating with UNUM to initiate and track FMLA leave. A weekly report will be maintained to track leave totals for each open claim. In addition, the Senior HR Generalist will collaborate with the Human Resources Manager and department management to provide coaching to managers on effectively administering corrective actions. Monitoring employee attendance and ensuring proper documentation in accordance with the attendance policy is also a key responsibility. The role includes assisting the HR Coordinator and Payroll by reviewing unauthorized timecards weekly and reporting Paid Time Off (PTO), Leave of Absence (LOA), and FMLA usage to payroll for accurate records. The Senior HR Generalist will maintain employee personnel files according to company policies and coordinate employee recognition programs, service awards, and monthly appreciation events. They will also be responsible for new hire onboarding, which includes completing required documentation, coordinating orientation schedules, and building a positive onboarding experience. Additionally, managing the temporary agency process, including communication of weekly labor requirements and training for temporary workers, is part of the role. The Senior HR Generalist will assist with other responsibilities and projects as necessary.
