About the position

As a Senior Human Resource Specialist at Target, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the HR functions within our Distribution and Receive Centers. This position is essential in ensuring that our teams are equipped to deliver products to our guests efficiently and effectively. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate employee records, administering employment orientation, and supporting the execution of cyclical HR processes. Your role will involve interacting with team members at various levels within the organization, as well as with external candidates, to ensure compliance with federal and state employment regulations and company policies. In this position, you will also oversee the administration of compensation and benefits programs, ensuring they are executed in a timely manner and that all record-keeping practices are followed. You will assist with employee training programs, ensuring they are conducted on schedule and that all regulatory and corporate training records are accurately maintained. Your ability to answer employee questions and escalate concerns to leadership will be crucial in fostering a supportive work environment. Additionally, you may be assigned special projects that involve coordinating cyclical processes and new initiatives, requiring you to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team. As a Senior HR Specialist, you will be a strategic partner to leadership, providing guidance and support to team members to help them succeed. Your contributions will have a significant impact on how team members experience organizational change, and you will leverage your insights and close collaboration with leaders to build effective teams that meet specific business goals. This role is dynamic and requires adaptability, as job duties may change based on business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate employee records and administration of employment orientation.
  • Support execution of cyclical HR processes, including workers compensation and payroll.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state employment regulations and company policies.
  • Administer compensation and benefits programs in a timely manner.
  • Assist with employee training programs and maintain accurate training records.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years of administrative experience.
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, and computer systems (e.g., Excel, Word, O365).
  • Strong customer/client service skills with effective communication abilities (written and verbal).
  • Ability to anticipate problems and demonstrate strong prioritization and organization skills.
  • Ability to work with highly confidential information.
  • Ability to take initiative and make fair and consistent decisions that align with company strategy and values.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to change.
