About the position

The Senior HR Specialist at Alvarez & Marsal plays a crucial role in aligning business objectives with employees and management within designated business units. This position is designed to act as a trusted advisor to both leaders and staff, advocating for employees while providing dedicated support to the assigned client group. The Senior HR Specialist will work closely with the Human Resources Business Partner to formulate partnerships across the HR function, delivering value-added services that reflect the organization's business objectives. This role requires maintaining a strong understanding of the business unit's financial position, midrange plans, culture, and competition, ensuring that HR strategies are effectively aligned with the overall goals of the organization. In collaboration with the HR Business Partner, the Senior HR Specialist will serve as a strategic partner to business leaders, understanding their goals and aligning them with people strategies, services, and programs. This includes guiding and supporting management in the performance management process, which encompasses goal setting, ongoing feedback, and conducting performance reviews. The role also involves providing HR expertise in areas such as employee relations, development and coaching, compensation, and organizational development. The Senior HR Specialist will develop and implement strategies aimed at enhancing employee engagement and retention, while also preparing and maintaining reports related to HR metrics to guide strategic planning. Additionally, the Senior HR Specialist will ensure accurate data maintenance in Workday, manage onboarding and off-boarding processes, and oversee the administration of leave programs in partnership with the Benefits team. This position may also involve assisting with visa and immigration matters as needed, and performing other duties as assigned, making it a dynamic and integral part of the HR team.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic partner to business leaders by understanding business goals and aligning them with people strategies, services, and programs.
  • Guide and support management in the performance management process, including goal setting, providing ongoing feedback, and conducting performance reviews.
  • Provide HR expertise in the areas of feedback, employee relations, development and coaching, compensation, and organizational development.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance employee engagement and retention.
  • Prepare and maintain reports related to HR metrics, such as turnover rates, retention, and employee engagement to help guide strategic planning.
  • Ensure accurate data maintenance in Workday, including job titles, profiles, backfill entries, and organizational structure updates.
  • Partner with the Learning & Development team on training initiatives and needs.
  • Lead the coordination of all onboarding and off-boarding of employees to ensure consistency, partnering with regional HR representatives.
  • Oversee the administration of leave programs, ensuring adherence to policies and legal requirements in partnership with the Benefits team.
  • Assist with visa and immigration matters in partnership with our external provider as needed.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 3-4 years of HR experience preferably in professional services or mid-large corporate setting.
  • Consultative approach when partnering with the practice.
  • Analytical reasoning and solution-focused problem solver with the ability to think critically and independently.
  • Self-motivated and disciplined individual with analytical skills; capability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Workday experience is a plus.
