About the position

The Senior IAM and System Security Engineer at Virgin Galactic will play a pivotal role in enhancing the security posture of the organization. Reporting directly to the Director of Information Security, this position is responsible for leading the design and development of the Okta OIE implementation, which is crucial for managing identity and access across the enterprise. The engineer will focus on automating processes and building workflows that streamline security operations while ensuring robust protection of digital assets. This role requires a deep understanding of cybersecurity complexities and a proactive approach to mitigating risks and addressing emerging threats. Effective communication and collaboration with business partners are essential for success in this position. In addition to the Okta implementation, the Senior Security Engineer will oversee endpoint security, ensuring that all endpoints are fortified against potential breaches and vulnerabilities. This includes developing and deploying advanced endpoint security solutions and maximizing the functionality of patching and vulnerability management tools. The engineer will also implement comprehensive system security protocols, working closely with cross-functional teams to identify security gaps and develop strategies to enhance the overall security posture of the infrastructure. The role involves maintaining a high awareness of the latest cyber threats and attack techniques, prioritizing vulnerabilities based on business impact, and coordinating timely remediations with system owners. Furthermore, the engineer will be a key player in incident response efforts, providing swift and effective responses to security incidents, conducting thorough investigations, and performing root cause analyses to continuously improve incident response capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in Okta IAM solutions, designing, implementing, and maintaining robust access controls, authentication mechanisms, and identity management strategies.
  • Lead in fortifying endpoints against potential breaches and vulnerabilities by developing and deploying cutting-edge endpoint security solutions.
  • Implement and oversee comprehensive system security protocols and measures, working closely with cross-functional teams to identify security gaps and assess risks.
  • Maintain awareness of the latest cyber threats and attack techniques, recommending improvements to systems to counter them.
  • Act as a key player in incident response efforts, providing swift responses to security incidents, conducting investigations, and performing post-incident reviews.

Requirements

  • Proven experience with Okta Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of endpoint security practices and tools.
  • Experience in implementing system security protocols and measures.
  • Familiarity with threat and vulnerability management processes.
  • Ability to conduct incident response and management effectively.
