About the position

As a Senior Identity and Access Management (IAM) Systems Analyst in IT Infrastructure at the University of California Office of the President, you will play a pivotal role in leading complex business and systems analysis, configuration, testing, implementation, and ongoing management of key IT initiatives. This position is integral to the assessment and management of projects across the entire Enterprise, which may include both vendor-supported and custom applications. You will interact with all levels of IT management and staff, working with a high degree of independence and decision-making authority. Your responsibilities will encompass all aspects of system implementation, from requirements gathering, analysis, and design, to configuration, testing, deployment, and support. Effective analytical and communication skills are essential as you will be required to convey information to diverse audiences. In this role, you will leverage your extensive knowledge in the identity and access management field, recognized for your expertise in specific areas. You will be tasked with resolving highly complex issues that require in-depth evaluation of variable factors, contributing to innovative workflows that enhance operational efficiencies. You may also manage programs that involve formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources, functioning with a high degree of autonomy. Your work will support the overall objectives of the IAM team, fostering an inclusive environment under the direction of the IAM Manager. The position requires advanced knowledge of operations, systems, and functions, including planning, design, development, implementation, user support and training, maintenance, quality assurance, and system testing and evaluation. You will provide configuration support for over 30 applications owned by the IAM team and business partners, including Single Sign-On (SSO), SAML proxy, Shibboleth, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and more. Your role will also involve leading application testing, recommending workflows and processes to support system design and new development, and analyzing current documentation and data flow requirements to reflect appropriate workflows. You will work collaboratively with business and IT partners to develop and implement new systems and functionalities, ensuring that technology solutions align with business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex business and systems analysis, configuration, testing, implementation, and ongoing management of key IT initiatives.
  • Provide configuration support for 30+ applications owned by IAM team and business partners, including SSO, SAML proxy, Shibboleth, MFA, and more.
  • Perform complex and advanced analysis to define and document requirements, tasks, dependencies, costs, risks, and timelines.
  • Collaborate with business partners and IT partners to discuss, develop, and implement new systems and functionality.
  • Lead application testing and recommend workflows and processes to support system design and new development.
  • Analyze current documentation and data flow requirements to reflect appropriate workflow.
  • Provide consultation to business partners to recommend technology solutions.
  • Resolve technical challenges utilizing interpersonal leadership skills.
  • Direct team members to ensure proper implementation of project deliverables related to analysis, testing, and training.
  • Research, recommend, and design large and complex institution-wide adoptions, deployments, and technology transitions.
  • Participate in project planning, configuration, development, implementation, and evaluation of information systems that support operations and organizational strategy.
  • Design, develop, modify, debug, deploy, and evaluate highly complex software and scripts.
  • Act as the IT point of contact for questions, application support, and maintenance of the system.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience in Information Technology.
  • In-depth knowledge of identity and access management (IAM) concepts, tools, and technologies.
  • Broad knowledge of the IT environment.
  • Advanced skills associated with programming design, modification, and implementation.
  • Advanced knowledge of secure software development and demonstrated ability to create software specifications.
  • Advanced knowledge of business and process analysis functions.
  • Knowledge of the design, development, and application of technology and systems to meet business needs.
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge, skills, and abilities associated with system problem identification and resolution.
  • Ability to write technical documentation in a clear and concise manner.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills including the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Highly developed interpersonal communication skills to work with stakeholders at various levels in the organization.

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum 4 years of experience with Identity and Access Management applications.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer security tools, best practices, and policies including demonstrated experience securing server-based software.
  • Demonstrated skill at analyzing and preventing security incidents of high complexity.
  • Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of how system management actions affect other systems, and dependent/related functions.
  • Experience in data integration and the specification of data services.
  • Familiarity with data quality and governance issues and requirements.
