About the position
As a Senior II Platform Operations Technician at Akamai, you will play a crucial role in monitoring and maintaining the performance of Akamai's globally distributed cloud platform. This position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the platform operates reliably and securely, adapting to customer demands while overseeing a vast network of servers. You will be responsible for troubleshooting network issues, administering automated software deployments, and participating in a 24/7 operations center shift schedule.
Responsibilities
- Monitoring and troubleshooting Akamai's 24/7 platform, network traffic, threats and alerts
- Working in collaborative internal and external cross functional teams to achieve timely resolution of platform affecting issues
- Administering automated software deployments to the distributed platform to maintain and ensure stability and security
- Ensuring platform issues are clearly tracked, updated and documented
- Participating in a 24/7 network operations center shift-schedule and following operations center workflow procedures
Requirements
- 4 years of relevant experience
- Experience in Linux/Unix system administration
- Good knowledge of SQL and scripting languages
- Experience in network technologies and internet protocols such as TCP/IP, WAN, and DNS
- Solid experience of administering, monitoring and resolving issues in a high availability platform environment
- Excellent communication and written skills to articulate technical information to internal teams and external customers
