About the position

The Senior Accountant Income Tax will play a crucial role in the preparation of corporate federal, state, and local income tax, as well as franchise tax returns for the company's U.S. and International entities. This position involves assisting in the preparation of the annual income tax provision for both U.S. and international entities. The Senior Accountant will also be responsible for managing day-to-day relationships and coordinating with contracted third-party tax management, preparation, and compliance providers. In this role, the Senior Accountant will assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual income tax returns, which include federal and international, state and local income, and franchise tax filings. This includes managing the global tax calendar and filing extensions as needed. The position requires completing tax liability account reconciliations to the general ledger and booking adjusting entries as assigned. Additionally, the Senior Accountant will prepare the income tax provision, perform tax technical and detail calculations, and conduct detailed tax research and documentation. The role also involves preparing disclosures for consolidated year-end and quarterly financial statements, as applicable, and exposure to cross-border transfer pricing with foreign subsidiaries. This includes ensuring compliance with contemporaneous documentation, calculations, local country reporting requirements, and any OECD requirements. Collaboration with U.S. and international outside consultants is essential for facilitating information requests and responding to federal, international, state, local, and income/franchise tax notices and audit requests to reach favorable resolutions. The Senior Accountant will assist in developing and implementing improved processes to minimize tax risk, enhance controls, and increase the accuracy of all tax provision and compliance filings. Documentation supporting tax returns, tax provisions, controls, and other supporting work papers must be completed in an organized format for both electronic and hard-copy retrieval. The role also includes assisting in annual planning and budget development and managing relationships with internal and external resources. Furthermore, the Senior Accountant will assist with tax fixed assets and assigned lives, ensuring accuracy in tax depreciation and the calculation of deferred tax assets. Monitoring and analyzing relevant legislation for U.S. and international operations is also part of the job, along with completing special projects and performing tax research related to special projects and business transactions.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required.
  • 2-5 years experience in Tax Accounting required.
  • CPA Preferred.
  • Experience in the retail and/or hospitality industry preferred.
  • Attention to detail, time management, project management, technical learner, and problem-solving skills.
