About the position

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Independent Testing Specialist within the Independent Testing & Validation (IT&V) team as part of Corporate Risk. This role focuses on executing and leading testing engagements for moderate to high-risk areas, ensuring compliance with IT&V standards and policies. The specialist will collaborate with business partners to develop testing strategies, document processes, and communicate findings effectively, contributing to the overall risk management framework of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Execute or lead testing engagements for moderate to high-risk areas according to IT&V standards.
  • Partner with business partners to understand processes and develop testing scope and procedures.
  • Ensure effective testing, validation, and documentation of review activities for risk programs and controls.
  • Lead process walkthroughs and document narratives for review.
  • Complete assigned testing activities and assess findings, escalating issues as necessary.
  • Present recommendations for resolving complex situations and develop expertise in risk management.
  • Follow through on reporting and resolution of open testing items.
  • Communicate emerging risks to management within Independent Testing.
  • Contribute to large scale planning related to Independent Testing deliverables.
  • Act as a change agent for continual improvement of the control environment.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of Independent Testing experience or equivalent work experience, training, military experience, or education.
  • Experience in the financial services industry, particularly in compliance, risk management, or internal audit.
  • Experience at a Big Four or regional public accounting firm with a focus on controls, audits, or advisory services.
  • Strong testing/audit background, including documentation and reporting.
  • Ability to research, trend, and analyze data for testing strategies.
  • Experience with technology and data control testing.
  • Knowledge of Technology and Information Security Frameworks and standards (COBIT, COSO, FFIEC, NIST, ISO).
  • Ability to lead complex projects and manage priorities effectively.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience developing and reviewing testing strategies and methodologies.
  • Demonstrated success in influencing business units to implement risk mitigation processes.
  • Strong negotiation skills, especially in challenging discussions with business lines.
