About the position

The Senior Indirect Tax Analyst at CVS Health plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate tax determinations and product taxability mapping. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders and involves analyzing tax laws and regulations to drive change within a large organization. The role follows a hybrid working schedule, requiring three days onsite per week, and reports to the Indirect Tax Research Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Research, analyze, interpret, and document tax laws and regulations to enable accurate tax determination and product mapping of goods and services.
  • Collaborate with the tax technology team to ensure content updates for transaction tax determination systems are fully evaluated and issues are timely resolved.
  • Research and respond to client inquiries in partnership with Customer Support.
  • Perform analysis of tax rates for the various products and services sold in the jurisdictions where the company does business.
  • Communicate the impact of sales and use tax law developments with internal teams.
  • Monitor tax statutes, regulations, legislative activity, court decisions, compliance forms, geographic boundaries, and publications on a continuous basis to stay informed of changes in laws and regulations impacting the company.
  • Monitor and evaluate business activities to ensure indirect tax impact is fully contemplated.
  • Assist with special projects and perform other duties and responsibilities as requested.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional experience, including researching and interpreting laws and regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Detail-oriented with demonstrated aptitude for problem solving and decisiveness, including ability to interpret, analyze, and organize detailed legal, tax jurisdiction, and geographic material.
  • Ability to utilize online research tools and/or data sources (e.g. Checkpoint, Tax Analysts, TTR).
  • Analytical skills with specific subject matter expertise and tax research skills, including a deep understanding of US retail and healthcare sales taxability concepts.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, accurately, and tactfully, both verbally and in writing, successfully translating always-complex tax rules for business partners and customers.
  • Ability to work productively with a high degree of independence and with accuracy and high attention to detail, while knowing when to seek guidance or assistance.
