About the position

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Industrial Engineer to join their team in Cheshire, CT. This position is integral to enhancing the efficiency and productivity of operations within the aerospace and defense industry. The Senior Industrial Engineer will apply advanced industrial engineering techniques to improve schedule performance, minimize costs, and enhance first-time quality. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams across operations, engineering, quality, and supply chain to identify, quantify, and implement improvement projects. The successful candidate will conduct machine and labor capacity analyses, develop plans for improvement, and establish methods to maximize the utilization of production facilities and personnel. In this role, the engineer will be responsible for improving and implementing new processes and standards that support the achievement of functional results. They will also identify new techniques and technological developments for integration into production processes, contributing to the overall Industry 4.0 journey. The engineer will develop and recommend facility and equipment layouts and investments to meet product delivery and cost targets, driving engagement and ensuring project closure to achieve results. Additionally, the Senior Industrial Engineer will assist and lead the implementation of CORE Methods and Tools, ensuring that best practices are followed throughout the organization. This position requires a strong background in industrial engineering principles and practices, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization. The role is primarily onsite, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and hands-on involvement in the production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Apply industrial engineering techniques to improve schedule performance and productivity.
  • Minimize costs and improve first-time quality through Lean and other Industrial Engineering concepts.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams in operations, engineering, quality, and supply chain to implement improvement projects.
  • Conduct machine and labor capacity analysis and develop plans for improvement.
  • Determine the most efficient sequence of operations and maximize utilization of production facilities and personnel.
  • Improve and implement new processes and standards to achieve functional results.
  • Identify new techniques and technological developments for integration into production processes.
  • Develop and recommend facility and equipment layouts and investments to meet product delivery and cost targets.
  • Drive engagement and project closure to ensure results are achieved.
  • Assist and lead with the implementation of CORE Methods & Tools.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

  • Experience using continuous improvement tools including LEAN, ACE, Six Sigma, etc.
  • SAP experience
  • Software/data science & analytics experience (SQL, Tableau, etc.)
  • Software Development Experience (Python, VB, etc.)
  • Strong project management skills
