About the position

The Senior Industrial Engineer in Product Performance Engineering at Abbott is responsible for analyzing, designing, and implementing quality systems and business process improvements. The role focuses on increasing capacity, reducing lead times, and improving process flow and efficiency across various facets of the organization, including manufacturing and supplier development. The engineer will utilize various improvement methodologies and work collaboratively with internal and external teams to drive sustainable business results.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes, creates and implements quality system and/or business process improvements within the Product Performance/Complaint Handling department.
  • Completes capacity analyses for headcount, equipment, and space requirements using simulation software or other effective tools.
  • Designs, implements and maintains effective metrics with internal customers to ensure business goals are achieved.
  • Participates as a core member in cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and eliminate process issues.
  • Makes recommendations to cross-functional teams to increase productivity and sustainability of process improvements.
  • Uses financial analysis tools to recommend alternative courses of action.
  • Convinces internal customers or suppliers to make fundamental changes to their processes to achieve business goals.
  • Establishes and cultivates a network of support to facilitate completion of assignments.
  • Participates in the development of less experienced staff by providing guidance and work direction.
  • May lead a project team and participate in determining project goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum 6 years of related work experience with a strong understanding of the functional area.
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in the Medical Device industry or a related regulated field.
  • Strong understanding of business unit functions and cross-group dependencies.
  • Demonstrated experience creating value stream structures and optimizing process flow.
  • Strong change management skills and team-oriented with strong communication and influencing skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Masters Degree in a related field preferred.
  • Experience creating and implementing continuous improvement systems.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $72,700.00 - $145,300.00 based on experience and location.
