About the position

As a Senior Industrial Engineer at Burlington Stores, you will be instrumental in enhancing operational efficiency and productivity. This role involves developing and maintaining engineered standards, defining best practices across job functions, and supporting business objectives through assessments and project implementations. Additionally, you will mentor junior team members, ensuring a collaborative and educational environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute the development and maintenance of accurate and effective engineered standards through time and frequency studies.
  • Define and maintain 'Best Methods' for all job functions, including training management and hourly workforce on productivity and work methods.
  • Support business objectives and improvement initiatives through needs assessment, work methods flow analysis, recommendations, and project implementation.
  • Use project management tools to plan, develop, and coordinate the completion of assigned tasks and deliver quantifiable results.
  • Test new concepts to improve the flow and setup in the distribution centers.
  • Support the design and implementation of material handling equipment in existing, new, and expanded network buildings.
  • Assist with capital projects through work sampling, cost justification, and cost/benefit analyses.
  • Provide guidance to less senior engineers and facilitate team education and training on engineering principles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in process design, work measurement, productivity improvement, cost reduction, and project implementation.
  • Experience with work measurement methodologies and tools, emphasizing time study expertise.
  • Experience with Standard Data and Predetermined Time Systems (such as MTM, MOST).
  • Experience in best methods development and implementation.
  • Experience with productivity tracking and data collection systems.
  • Proficiency in SQL, R, or Python for complex data analysis, including querying and manipulating large datasets.
  • Experience in maintaining a management observation and accountability program.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Manhattan Associates Supply Chain suite.
  • Experience with Dematic WCS functionality.
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
