Write the next chapter of your ABB story. This position reports to the Advanced Manufacturing Manager. As the Senior Industrial Engineer, in this role you will be responsible for the development of standards, processes and schedules, and the utilization of facilities and staff to improve production, maintenance, or related operations. It also encompasses work distribution and simplification, process flow and section layout. Plan, conduct or coordinate a range of complex engineering activities encompassing one or more engineering disciplines. Conduct or coordinate complex analyses and develop recommendations based on sound engineering practices and business considerations. Proactively develop and implement measures to improve operations and customer satisfaction. The work model for the role is: Onsite.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain required manufacturing process documentation, including facility layout, process flow charts, capacity and utilization studies, takt time assessments, time and motion studies, standard work, cycle time analysis, and line balancing.
  • Develop and update assembly instructions to support new product, current product, and Engineering Change Notices (ECN's).
  • Identify methods to ensure standardized work is followed and reduce process variation; Experience in value stream mapping; Enter and maintain labor routings; Manage implementation of ECR/ECN's; Co-develop engineering and test specifications; Create and maintain equipment documentation.
  • Provide knowledge or experience in utilizing time study and assembly line & test simulation tools to validate line capacities, and perform line design iterations.
  • Research and test design ideas to determine feasibility utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis to formulate and support innovation, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Develop and update Plan for Every Part (PFEP) to optimize line side part presentation; Calculate material usages, Kanban and buffer sizing to optimize material handling and production; Evaluate need and design for improved material handling processes and equipment; Maintain detailed action registry of current and future tasks to prioritize work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering PLUS minimum 5 years experience including Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen, Root Cause Analysis OR Masters degree PLUS 3 years related experience.
  • Project management; work experience in a high velocity environment.
  • SAP, ProPlanner, FlexSim, AutoCAD, SolidWorks
  • Plan for Every Part (PFEP)
  • Value Stream Mapping, Labor Routings
  • Positions requires occasional 2nd shift availability.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
