About the position

The Senior Information Architect will join the Enterprise Data Office (EDO) at AstraZeneca, focusing on Master and Reference Data Management (MRDM). This role is pivotal in driving enterprise-level architectural thinking and delivery across the IT function, ensuring alignment with data governance and delivery teams. The architect will be responsible for creating strategic and tactical architectural outputs, supporting engineering teams, and promoting architectural best practices within the organization.

Responsibilities

• Deliver architectural thought leadership artifacts and outputs related to Master and Reference Data Management (MRDM).
• Define, lead, and deliver coherent strategic and tactical architectural thinking across information and data architectures.
• Support EDO engineering teams in realizing the MRDM strategy and surfacing requirements to drive the delivery backlog.
• Promote architecture and technology evangelization and develop an architecture roadmap.
• Ensure alignment of architectural practices with business technology and data governance teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or Data Management.
• Experience in leading and delivering enterprise data platform/MRDM architectural thinking.
• Proficiency in conceptual and logical data modeling technologies.
• Experience with information and data regulatory governance frameworks.
• A blend of data/information architecture, analysis, and engineering skills.
• Familiarity with industry IT architectural patterns and methodologies (e.g., FAIR data principles, Data Mesh).
• Understanding of data platforms concepts and cloud-based containerization strategies for hybrid cloud environments.
• Knowledge of appropriate data structures and technologies based on business use cases.
• Post-graduate degree in Management Information Systems (MIS) or Data Management is preferred.
• Extensive experience in a senior information/data architecture role.
• Experience with Information and Data Governance frameworks in a commercial organization.
• Experience in Agile data definition scrums.
• Familiarity with metadata cataloguing tools, data modeling tools, and enterprise architecture tools.
• Understanding of Data Mesh approaches.
• Experience in the Pharmaceutical industry delivering architectural change.
