About the position

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer at Applied Signal Technology (AST) plays a crucial role in designing, developing, testing, and delivering advanced high-capacity systems that process modern communications. This position is integral to a team that enhances national security through innovative SIGINT solutions. The role requires strong collaboration and communication skills, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The engineer will engage in system development and deployments, ensuring the protection of the country through cutting-edge technology.

Responsibilities

  • Guide and oversee the design, development, testing, and delivery of advanced high-capacity systems.
  • Collaborate with R&D teams on system development and deployments.
  • Generate briefings and present materials to team members, customers, and management.
  • Make decisions and generate ideas to enhance product capabilities.

Requirements

  • Experience with system development to support multiple programs.
  • Proficiency in Python or similar scripting languages.
  • Experience with Linux, especially Red Hat based distributions.
  • System Administration experience.
  • Familiarity with enterprise-grade networking equipment (Cisco, Arista, Juniper).
  • Experience with virtualization technology (KVM, VMWare, Hyper-V).
  • Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP).
  • Experience with configuration management systems (Puppet, Ansible, Salt).
  • Experience designing and setting up networks and data centers.
  • Ability to verify and validate software and system functionality.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with User Interface development.
  • Experience with enterprise-grade storage equipment.
  • Familiarity with object-oriented programming languages.
  • Basic understanding of telecommunications systems concepts and/or signal processing.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or other containerized systems.
  • Experience with process improvement and automated system deployments.
