About the position

The Senior Buying Manager at GLS is responsible for building and managing effective teams within the Buying department to drive profitability and meet organizational goals. This role involves creating a positive work environment, monitoring team productivity, and ensuring high-quality customer interactions. The Senior Manager will also oversee staffing decisions, manage performance evaluations, and collaborate with other departments to achieve business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a departmental structure sufficient to meet organizational goals and objectives.
  • Create a highly engaging work environment to attract, develop, and retain talent.
  • Monitor productivity of assigned staff and quality of customer interactions to ensure performance expectations are achieved.
  • Provide meaningful and timely performance coaching and feedback as necessary.
  • Exercise management authority concerning staffing, performance evaluations, promotions, salary recommendations, and terminations.
  • Oversee the maintenance of a daily employee work schedule that effectively meets the needs of the company and dealer customers.
  • Run daily reports to optimize workflow efficiency and ensure team meets service level expectations.
  • Establish and track monthly purchase objectives for assigned dealers.
  • Foster a collaborative culture that facilitates the achievement of business plan objectives by working closely with other associates and members of management.
  • Participate in special projects as needed and perform additional assignments as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' management experience required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' auto finance operations and/or auto industry experience required.
  • Thorough knowledge of credit-related laws, consumer lending/underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures required.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and effectively manage and work within a team.
  • Professional and persuasive communication and negotiation skills with the ability to maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent sales skills; ability to think quickly in a dynamic environment and successfully overcome resistance.
  • Ability to solve problems under pressure and provide creative solutions when necessary.
  • Intrinsically motivated with demonstrated ability to take initiative and implement improvements.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to influence others and manage conflict.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Team player that can adapt in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Proficient computer skills with working knowledge of internet and standard business applications.
