About the position

Hitachi Rail is seeking a Senior Installation Engineer/Integration Designer to manage wayside installation design in a rail context. This role involves integrating the CBTC system, ensuring compliance with contract and local regulations, and facilitating communication between site personnel and the engineering team. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and contribute to innovative solutions in railway engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate the CBTC system to create a design that is easily constructed on site.
  • Ensure installation details comply with contract, system requirements, and local electrical regulations.
  • Design and instruct subcontractor designers on cable routing within technical rooms and along the track system.
  • Manage technical interfaces between engineering installation works and technological systems/subsystems.
  • Act as a liaison between site personnel and the engineering team to create synergy between design and field needs.
  • Identify critical issues in project development and propose mitigation actions.
  • Represent the installation engineering team and support design choices with the client.
  • Utilize Bluebeam and CAD software for interface definition and management.

Requirements

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in Installation Works within the Railway Engineering context, particularly in construction and installation design.
  • Knowledge of surveying field locations and gathering information for existing infrastructure.
  • Ability to identify and overcome installation challenges during design development.
  • Familiarity with Requirement Traceability Matrix and Interface Registers tools.
  • Experience in managing contractors and subcontractor activities, including contract requirements and design processes.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office (Word/Excel).
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering or equivalent technical background.

Nice-to-haves

  • Additional expertise in railway contexts for brownfield projects.
  • Previous experience in construction.
