About the position

The Senior Installation Engineer/Integration Designer at Hitachi Rail is responsible for managing wayside installation design within the rail context, ensuring compliance with contract specifications, system requirements, and local electrical regulations. This role involves integrating the CBTC system, designing cable routing, and acting as a liaison between site personnel and the engineering team to facilitate project delivery in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate the CBTC system to create a design that can be easily constructed on site, ensuring compliance with contract and local regulations.
  • Design and instruct subcontractor designers on cable routing within technical rooms and along the track system.
  • Manage and resolve technical interfaces between engineering installation works and technological systems/subsystems.
  • Act as a connection between site personnel and the engineering team to create synergy between design and field needs.
  • Identify critical issues in project development and propose mitigation actions.
  • Represent the installation engineering team and support design choices with the client.
  • Utilize Bluebeam and CAD software for interface definition and management as part of the project delivery strategy.

Requirements

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in Installation Works within the Railway Engineering context, particularly in construction and installation design.
  • Ability to survey field locations and gather information for existing infrastructure to complete installation design.
  • Proficient in identifying and overcoming installation challenges during design development.
  • Experience in sizing pathways and raceways considering existing conditions.
  • Familiarity with Requirement Traceability Matrix and Interface Registers tools.
  • Experience in managing contractors and subcontractor activities, including contract requirements and design processes.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in project direction and priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in construction within the railway context is a plus.
