About the position

The Senior Institutional Research Analyst at South Central College plays a crucial role in supporting enrollment management and institutional effectiveness activities. This position involves overseeing the production of mandatory and ad hoc reports, conducting advanced data analytics, and ensuring compliance with various regulations. The analyst will also work to enhance data literacy across the college and collaborate with IT to improve data access and visualization processes. Additionally, the role emphasizes fostering equity through diverse data representation and participatory research.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and run reports and analyses, both scheduled and ad hoc.
  • Consult with clients to assess their reporting needs.
  • Coach and guide other Institutional Research staff to ensure accuracy and skill development.
  • Improve data literacy among faculty and staff by enhancing tools, training, and resources.
  • Support evidence-based decision-making through effective data governance and architecture.
  • Manage the reporting calendar and maintenance schedule for Institutional Research reports and dashboards.
  • Participate in the implementation of Workday and coordinate process automation with IT colleagues.
  • Represent the Institutional Research department in committees and workgroups.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure departmental efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social science, computer science, statistics, or a related field.
  • Two years of experience in institutional research or similar roles in higher education, including experience with student information database systems.
  • One year of experience using statistical software and data reporting/visualization tools such as R, SPSS, SAS, PowerBI, Tableau, or Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • At least three years of experience with large educational data sets, including statistical testing and reporting.
  • Experience developing dashboards using PowerBI or Tableau.
  • Familiarity with FERPA and Minnesota Government Data Practices Act.
  • Experience working with diverse cultures and populations.
