About the position

The Senior Instructional Designer at Brigham Young University (BYU) is responsible for designing and managing innovative online courses aimed at both domestic and international students. This role involves collaboration with instructors and subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure high-quality course content and student experience, while also overseeing instructional design assistants and maintaining project timelines and budgets.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with instructors or SMEs to create course outlines, learning outcomes, and assessment plans in compliance with Independent Study standards.
• Manage and monitor project budgets, timelines, and quality in coordination with the Team Supervisor and other stakeholders.
• Build and design learning activities and course content in the LMS using design tools and interactives such as H5P.
• Manage and train student instructional design assistants or other third-party help.
• Project manage the course design workflow from the course outline phase to completion.
• Maintain collaborative relationships with other instructional designers, instructors, SMEs, and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or a closely related field.
• One or more years of full-time direct work experience in course design and production.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or a closely related field.
• Three or more years of work experience in course design and production.
• Experience in designing online high school or university courses.
