About the position

The Senior Instructional Designer will lead course design and provide strategic direction for online and hybrid learning initiatives at the College of Health Science. This role is crucial for ensuring the quality and consistency of digital learning offerings and will involve direct support for faculty and academic leaders in creating engaging learning experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with faculty and instructional designers to develop rigorous, objective-focused hybrid and online courses.
  • Cultivate relationships with faculty members and program administrators to assess instructional and course-related needs.
  • Support faculty with learning technology integration and innovative teaching methods.
  • Establish and maintain quality assurance processes for online and hybrid course design.
  • Review and evaluate online courses to ensure quality standards and alignment with instructional design best practices.
  • Gather and analyze feedback from students and faculty for continuous course improvement.
  • Manage multiple learning design projects concurrently, ensuring scope, quality, and timeline deliverables are met.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support a team of instructional designers, providing guidance on project priorities and professional development.
  • Set performance goals for team members and conduct regular performance evaluations.
  • Lead project meetings, track deliverables, and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Research emerging technologies to meet teaching and learning demands.
  • Collaborate with campus technology experts to pilot and deploy teaching tools.
  • Design and deliver faculty professional learning opportunities.
  • Create instructional recommendations and educational technology resources.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in designing and developing online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses.
  • Deep expertise in using LMS platforms such as Canvas, Blackboard, or Moodle.
  • Advanced knowledge of instructional design models such as ADDIE, SAM, Backward Design, or Agile methodologies.
  • Proven experience using advanced tools for multimedia creation, such as Articulate Storyline and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Expertise in adult learning theories and learner-centered design.
  • Strong leadership skills to oversee multiple course development projects.
  • Excellent communication skills to build partnerships with faculty and university leaders.
  • Ability to lead the evaluation and integration of new technologies into course design.
  • Advanced understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Expertise in using learning analytics and assessment data for course improvements.
