About the position

The position involves leading the development of training content and providing guidance for training and development initiatives at DTE Energy. The role requires collaboration with business units to create effective training materials and assess their effectiveness. The individual will mentor team members and support the Learning and Technical Development Shared Services organization, ensuring that training aligns with business needs and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develops training content covering a range of areas, including specific products, policies and procedures, use of computers and software, interpersonal skills, quality and process issues, and product and technical knowledge.
  • Provides senior-level guidance for complex training and technical development projects.
  • Leads teams in completion of training and technical development projects.
  • Collaborates with business units to identify and validate content for the development of training materials (e.g., video, print, audio, web-based training, and simulations).
  • Understands business unit activities, priorities, and learning needs to ensure training materials are focused and meet objectives.
  • Creates design documents and analysis reports for complex/technical content development.
  • Plans and schedules activities and resources to support training analysis, design, and delivery.
  • Applies best practices for instructional design methodology, information design, and writing skills to design and develop materials for E-learning, instructor-led courses, webinars, and on-the-job training that support engagement and results in a blended learning environment.
  • Leads process to identify problems with procedures or processes and develops solutions.
  • Coaches and mentors the development of other team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of experience in education or related field; OR High School diploma or GED and eight (8) years of experience as an instructor or instructional technology position.
  • Ability to use and apply training development tools (e.g., Lectora, Articulate, UPerform, Captivate, etc.).
  • Familiar with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluation) model as a basic training development strategy.
  • Outstanding communication skills, oral and written, to manage the conversion of raw content into usable training materials.
  • Knowledge of adult instructional and learning theory principles.
  • Exhibits strong level of professionalism.
  • Works under general supervision.
  • Multi-task oriented and ability to be self-directed.
  • Ability to be flexible and work under changing priorities.
  • Capable of assessing learning and performance.
  • Ability to interpret various reports, recognize trends, and offer solutions.
  • Proficient with computer and office software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) and Windows.
  • Ability to learn new software, hardware, and tools.
  • Able to direct work activities of junior personnel.
  • Understanding of continuous improvement principles and activities.
