The College of Business at The University of Alabama in Huntsville is seeking a dynamic and innovative Senior Instructional Designer to join our team on an hourly on-call basis. This role is pivotal in developing engaging and effective learning experiences for our online courses. The Senior Instructional Designer will work closely with faculty members to design, develop, and enhance online courses that not only meet high-quality standards but also align with the college's academic goals. The position aims to provide a transformative learning experience for students by ensuring that our online offerings are engaging and effective. In this role, the incumbent will support faculty in designing and developing instructional materials and course modules for online delivery. They will also advise faculty and staff on the latest educational technologies to create interactive online learning environments. A significant focus of this position is to adapt courses and pedagogy to leverage new and rapidly changing technologies, including generative AI. The Senior Instructional Designer will serve as a consultant for online technologies, developing cutting-edge pedagogical strategies, and providing enthusiastic support and instructional design services to faculty and staff in the development, support, implementation, and evaluation of online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses. The responsibilities include collaborating with key stakeholders to lead and track innovative learning and development projects, assisting with the design and development of instructional materials, and acting as a subject matter expert in converting existing classroom-based curriculum to eLearning. The role also involves advising faculty on the latest educational technologies, providing training on learning management systems, conducting needs assessments, and reviewing online courses according to quality standards. The Senior Instructional Designer will monitor course feedback, manage multimedia integration into online courses, and report on the implementation and impact of training programs. Staying current with advancements in instructional design and sharing this knowledge with faculty and staff is also a critical aspect of the position.
